Before you is the beautiful Hawksbill Turtle born & bred in Grand Cayman. I really enjoy watching them swim. They glide effortless like a bird, they are amazing to see. I have had the privledge and honor to swim with them several times. They move with grace and shocking speed.

The thing I love most is the shell shock! Their shells have such stunning colors! When this photo is blown up the colors in the shell will just captivate your attention!

A note about this magestic animals. These Big boys can live a long time but they are still endangered. They can live in excess of 85 years and get over 500 lbs. They are greatly affected by plastic and styrofoam dumped in the water! They often mistake it for jellyfish or other food sources. PLEASE RECYLE, reuse and take any step you can to be GREEN! :yoda:

Because of human fishing practices, Eretmochelys imbricata populations around the world are threatened with extinction and the turtle has been classified as critically endangered by the World Conservation Union.[1] Several countries, such as China and Japan, have valued hunting hawksbill turtles for their flesh, which is considered good eating. Hawksbill turtle shells, the primary source of tortoise shell, is used for decorative purposes. By the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species, it is illegal to capture and to trade in hawksbill turtles and products derived from them in many nations.

ahhh i forgot you were a bird and turtle guy! If you get a chance to get to Grand Cayman they have a turtle farm where u can hold them.

Not my favorite of the islands but cool to see. Hey dont overlook the turtle breeding beaches around the states. there is many places you can go see the hatching of or laying eggs of turtles.
